What is the minimum required metal thickness?

The magnet reaches its full strength on steel that is 10–12 mm thick; for thinner metal, use an additional steel plate under the part or a vacuum/chain mount.

Weldon or Morse taper?

The Weldon 19 mm shank is the quick-change standard for ring drills; the Morse taper also allows the use of standard twist drills and tap drills with adapters.

How long can you drill without a break?

A ring drill bit removes only the ring, so drilling a Ø50 mm hole in 20 mm steel takes 30–60 seconds; be sure to use a coolant or paste.
